The Gryphon is a fabulous mythological beast with the head and wings of an eagle and the body of a lion — a creature of great resourcefulness and strength. In ancient times it was the Gryphon's mission to watch over the gold mines of the gods, to protect the treasure. The Gryphon served humankind as well — its claw was believed to have the magical ability to cure any ill.
Ellen Dana Nagler is the principal designer and developer of GRYPHON. She attended law school at New York University and the University of London, and has enjoyed careers in financial services, advertising and journalism. With the advent of the PC, she became a computer hobbyist, then a full-time consultant and designer of integrated solutions. A charter member of the Microsoft Consulting Partner program (forerunner of today's world-wide Microsoft Solution Provider program), Ms. Nagler has been a featured speaker at a number of Windows-related conferences. Her two books, Integrating Windows Applications and Inside Windows 3.1, were published in several languages – including Chinese! She has also been a member of the Microsoft Access Roundtable, a by-invitation-only group of developers who assist Microsoft in the planning for new versions of the software.
